The steps are all very similar.
Lets take the news reader in Netscape Navigator for example.
When Netscape Navigator is open -
- From the Window menu click on Netscape News.
- A page will appear, from the File menu click on Open News Host.
You'll be prompt to type in the name of your news server.Your service
provider will tell you the name of a server, or you could try one of the
public access servers.(something like news.nesbittburns.ca).Click OK.
- The news 'host' will open in the top left frame of your news window.
- From the Options menu click on Show all Newsgroups.
- Now every newsgroup which is on that news server will be listed
in alphabetical order.
- Next choose the kind of newsgroup that you wish to look at
(such as alt.music)
- Clicking it will show you the hundreds of newsgroups contained
within the prefix (alt.)
- Choose your newsgroup now, so you don't have to go through the
process of finding it again, subscribe to it !,simply click on the
little checkbox to the right of the newsgroup.This newsgroup will
now automatically show up on your screen the next time you open
your news reader.
- Click on the newsgroup you want to read and the messages will
be listed in the top right frame.
- Simply click on the message you want to read and it will
appear in the bottom half of your news window.
- To post your message, click on "To :News" and the message form
will appear, looking just like a email form.Fill in the subject
you wish to talk about and your message, press Send .
- After a short wait your message will appear on the group.

Go Back to the news page.
